In strong seafaring tradition, the fisherman's smock NEMO II is simple, authentic, and timeless, made from sturdy cotton canvas for facing the elements. It features a button and breast pocket on the inside of the garment to store fragile items.
Back in the day sailors would use it to keep cigarettes away from water whilst aboard ship. The deep collar would then block off the wind while lighting filterless Gitane cigarettes.
Traditionally, red brick colored smocks were worn by fishermen working near the water's edge and blue was reserved for sailors fishing further out in the Big Blue.

Nemo II French Sailor Jacket
I bought this item as a present for a friend of mine. My friend says he absolutely loves the jacket.
Great work shirt made of seriously heavy cotton.
I bought an earlier version of the NEMO II (NEMO I, or perhaps just NEMO? who knows?) Regardless, I wised up in the intervening years, realizing that I did not reach for it when it could have saved other work shirts from stress they weren't made for, because they were snug around my armpits. This time, I went big, and ordered the XXL? It was a good choice, and I would recommend it for Americans. I've been getting more use from NEMO II, and very happy with the performance of the superior fabric. Most importantly, is the first-line protection the true canvass cotton affords my skin in situations where I'm bearing in to hold planks in place. NEMO II is now one of my faves. A great addition, and the XXL room was correct, as well. Nice to feel proud for being so smart,
Nemo II
I love this shirt/over shirt for casual wear and doing chores around the house/walking the dog. While I do not smoke, the inside pocket is handy for sunglasses. The fabric has just the right amount of coarseness and looks like it will fade beautifully.
