Made in Saint-James, Normandy, France.
A military ruling in 1858 introduced the striped tee to the official wardrobe of quartermasters and sailors in the French Navy with its particular characteristics: 21 white stripes measuring 20mm and 20 or 21 blue stripes measuring 10mm. The 20th century brought this nautical motif into the mainstream. Sailors in the Merchant Navy and fishermen and the boating community brought it on board, and it wasn’t long before it became a fashion must-have picked up by creatives and intellectuals (think Coco Chanel, Pablo Picasso). Since then, celebrities and fashion designers have turned it into a symbol of vintage French fashion – universal and timeless.

My wife keeps buying St. James. The clothes she got twenty years ago look as good and in style today as they did when bought. Can’t be beat for classic, tasteful quality.
Color slightly off from American preppy
The ‘green’ is more of a real. In the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, the Prep School trend had more of a dark green in the classic navy/green combo. Other than that, the fabric and the cut is very agreeable. Thanks for asking..
Consistently Excellent Quality
I LOVE these shirts! This is my 5th one and I never tire of wearing them. Super comfortable; you can dress up or down. Long lasting, too.
